Depression is a massive public health issue. Thankfully, there are teams of scientists dedicated to researching mental health, suicide, and substance use disorders. On this podcast, we decode the science of mood disorders through discussions with a leading expert in the field, Dr. Madhukar Trivedi. We’re here to change the way we think and talk about depression, in an accessible, approachable way. Created by The Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care in Dallas, TX. The opinions expressed are our own and do not reflect those of UT Southwestern, the O’Donnell Brain Institute, the UT System, or the state. What is the difference between mental illness and mental health? How can we make the shift from being reactive to being proactive? How can we promote recovery of the whole person, rather than just treat the symptoms? In this episode, Kathryn Forbes interviews Dr. Madhukar Trivedi and Dr. Anne Fuller about strategies to reduce risk, promote resilience, and ultimately prevent depression in adolescents. Learn about the importance of early identification and about CDRC research and outreach programs that are working to improve our understanding of youth mental health.
Anne Fuller, PhD joins us from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she is Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology. She received her Master's and PhD in Clinical Psychology with a child family subspecialty from Loyola University, Chicago, and completed her postdoctoral research with us at the CDRC.
